During this book their is a conflict between Iran and Iraq. This conflict results in the Iran revolution to bring down the shah. In the book Marjane has to live during the revolution and witnesses war in her own back yard. I tried to think of somthing that would help me better understand what she was going through so i watched a video on the revolution and with this video i understand how hard it was for her to live a normal life.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kY0ixG94cHE. I belive that this video will better prepare you for the book it shows you how her every day life was. It shows how woman had to dress it shows religion and the coming together of a nation. During this video i think you should watch how the people react how the woman dress how people incorperate their religion into their actions. I think if you do this you will better understand the book and everything that goes on in it.

should book be more available

I think this book should be more available. I think the book would be very appealing to people that like to read comic books but mostly anyone would like to read it. The whole book is very interesting you never know what is going to happen next so it keeps u on your toes. that is what is appealing about the book. There aren't many obstacles cause the vocab in the book is very easy. The book doesn't drag on either so u just keep reading. Everything you might need to know which isn't much gets explained in the book at the start so don't worry bout looking up history on the Muslim religion. The book has allot of killing it shows people getting whipped and burned so really it isn't mature content but little kids wouldn't like to see that.

I think this book would appeal to any one who likes comics, or any one who is interested in Muslim people. This book appealed to me by how the graphics look cool and i enjoy reading comics. i think that when you read this book you should be prepared for allot of religion debates and problems with religion. their is allot of mature content but its probably better just be mature and not laugh or anything and just keep reading its not that much of mature content so it should be pretty easy to control yourself. the issue is that their is some Muslims that want to modernize like not where the veils or dress things and their are some Muslims that want it to stay the same and not change and during the book both of the group es have fights and try to change each other. so i think that if you like that kind of discussion than you have a good book to read.
